He even beat the previous record held by an American named Tony Huesman WN since Tony died in 2009 . John also received a certificate from Guinness World Records in the hospital where he was treated recently .
" The thought that I would survive until their 70s never crossed my mind . , But here I am now , " said the man from Newport Pagnell , Bucks the UK .
" For the record I would like the world to be an inspiration for anyone who is waiting for a donor heart and the people who are lucky to get a transplant like me , " he said as quoted from the Telegraph , Wednesday ( 12/03/2014 ) .
What 's the secret? It turns out that the post- transplant , John always obey the doctor's advice and continued to maintain his fitness , including by traveling around the UK and Europe to take part in the Transplant Games 11 .
"Equally important , I want to promote organ donation at every opportunity . Because I always feel I owe it to the donor and to the family that I never met . They have given me life , and this would not have happened without their giving , " he said .
Andre Simon , director of the transplant program of the Royal Brampton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust said , " John truly extraordinary achievement and shows what can be obtained from the transplant . "
Simon also agreed when John 's achievements can not be separated from the combination of the old man 's determination to continue to adopt a healthier lifestyle and quality of health care in the UK is very good , although Simon did not deny the existence of an element of luck in this regard .
